A Trip to Bondi

Today did not start off very well. Hannah woke up screaming at 6.15am with a 39.3 degree temperature. She had a breastfeed, then fell asleep laying against me in our bed at 7am until 8.45am. Then woke up screaming blue murder and smacking her mouth. Nurofen and Sedagel and 20 minutes later she calmed down and ate a piece of toast. WOW what a morning.

We are running out of "free holiday" days with Liv before she starts her Summer School course next Tuesday, so we packed the pain relief, teething gel and thermometer into the nappy bag and headed off to Bondi.

We went to Moo gourmet burger bar for lunch. YUUUUMMMM!!!

Afterwards, we went for a stroll around, browsing in some shops and market stalls until lunch was walked off enough to fit in desert at San Churro!!

A pit stop across from the beach to change Hannah's nappy and check her temperature, which I'm happy to report stayed down all day! Yay!

It was a lovely day. Hannah had a sleep on the way there and on the way back. Unfortunately, we suspect that she's now coming down with conjunctivitis, which Hunter had at Christmas (but we didn't know it at the time). Hannah had a watery eye tonight and some yellow gunk forming in the corner... OH NO! She is really in the wars at the moment, poor darling.

Right, I am signing off now to go and work on our holiday project... a jigsaw puzzle! I will have to do another post ;-)

A Teething and Unwell Baby Hannah

My poor baby girl isn't having a very good time. The dregs of her cold are still hanging around as a bit of a runny nose, and a chesty cough. She is also SO SO close to her two top teeth cutting through and they're giving her quite a bit of grief, the poor little lamb :-( She smacks at her mouth and cries.

After an unsettled Boxing Day night, we had a very tired, very out of sorts baby girl on our hands on Tuesday morning. Most unlike her, she curled up on my lap and fell asleep for 1.5 hours. Unheard of!

Once Hannah woke up, she seemed back to her usual self. She ate a full lunch so we headed out for a couple of hours and enjoyed a picnic in the park and an icecream in Windsor on the way home. Hannah had a special treat, the end of Mark's icecream cone!

Hannah had a 30 minute nap in the car coming home and then went to bed at 7pm and slept a solid 12.5 hours without a peep. All seemed well! Fast forward to Wednesday nap time, which was a bit unsettled, coupled with not much interest in dinner, followed by a massive temperature spike by 6pm... 39 degrees :-( We got the little poppet bathed, fed and into bed. Silence for 30 minutes and then Nurofen, Sedagel and cuddles required. A short cry at 9.20pm and 4.30am but self settled before I got there each time. Not too bad, considering... but this morning... temp of 39.7 and a listless baby girl laying in my arms.

Off to the doctor we went. Nothing is seriously wrong - a bit of a red throat and one ear, but the doctor think the temp is just related to her cold/cough. We will keep the panadol and nurofen going to keep the temp under control and just ride it out. She's asleep at the moment and hopefully had a good sleep tonight and will be much better by tomorrow. 

On a positive note, we have bought a new stroller in the sales. A Maclaren Quest Sport - it's sooo compact and easy compared to the Bugaboo pram! This is our new toy (I mean, Hannah's new stoller!)

We're hoping for a well Hannah tomorrow so we can head out to Bondi with Liv for some sight-seeing and a good test-drive of the new stroller!

Christmas 2011

Christmas Eve was the start of three days of celebrating, and eating & drinking FAR too much! We went to Al & Steve's on Christmas Eve in the afternoon, had nibbles and drinks, the girls played, then after they were bathed off to bed for the night, we sat down to a lovely seafood meal.

Christmas Day was lovely, just the four of us at home enjoying a leisurely day opening presents and relaxing.

Christmas is about family, and the dogs are a big part of ours :-) They came inside for some present unwrapping too!! We couldn't resist "decorating" Norman just a little bit!!

After a lovely nap, Hannah had a yummy treat for afternoon tea... fruit, dipped in a melted chocolate from the chocolate tart Liv was making!! Yuuuuuummmmyyyy!

Then onto more opening of presents.

That afternoon, we enjoyed a delicous dinner of roast pork (with crackling) and all the trimmings. Hannah sat in the highchair at the table and enjoyed a plate full too - such a big girl now!

Waaaaayyyy too much food! Stuffed ourselves silly!

Boxing Day was, you guessed it, MORE eating! Al, Steve, Hunter and Tyler came over for dinner. The kids all exchanged their pressies and played nicely.

Bath and bed for the two girls, then the adults retreated to the couch for relaxing and chatting over drinks. Unfortuantely the night was cut a little short due to Hannah being really unsettled and on her THIRD wake by 9pm, also woke Hunter up with all her crying :-( The reasons for which shall all be revealed in my next post! The Courtney's went home to get Hunter resettled in her own bed, and so our three days of celebrating came to a close.

All in all, a really lovely Christmas :-)

Sisterly Love

Hannah is SO loving spending time with her big sister. They are gorgeous together :-)

Working and Hairdressers

Had a lovely day today... spent a few hours this morning helping Al with work while Liv looked after Hannah. It was a nice break and great to give my brain a workout! Then this afternoon I had a hairdressers appointment for a colour & cut. I didn't see Hannah from 9.30am until 4.30pm! Missed her like crazy, naturally!!

Hannah is still drowning in snot, and now Liv and Mark have both come down with the same thing. Urgh! Hope they're all a bit better for Christmas!

A Snotty Bub and Australiana Pioneer Village

I cannot believe that Hannah has yet ANOTHER cold! I realise now that the occasional bit of snot a week or so ago was not a cold at all. THIS is a cold! Poor bubby :-( She had a very unsettled early part of the night last night, and this morning was FULL of snot. Urgh! Hopefully it's over and done with by Christmas.

We visited Australiana Pioneer Village today.

"The Village stands on 27 acres of Hawkesbury riverfront land on the curtilage of Rose Cottage, the oldest timber dwelling in Australia. The Village is listed on the New South Wales Heritage Register with the Sydney Opera House and the Hyde Park Barracks. 

The Village was created by Bill McLachlan - a man of great vision who, in the late 1960's, saved many of the Hawkesbury's buildings from demolition or neglect and relocated them to Wilberforce to create an educational facility that allows us to still visit the homes and workplaces of our  Hawkesbury Pioneers. 

The Village has a Church, Bank, Post Office, cottages that our settlers lived in, Blacksmiths, Damper Camp, Stables, Shearing Shed, Police Station, one of the oldest barns in Australia, a Railway Station, Barber Shop, the Quilty Shed, shops and more..."

What a gorgeous place to spend a couple of hours! Incidentally, it's also where the TV Series "Wild Boys" is filmed!

 

We had VERY yummy Devonshire Tea...

Just as we were finishing our yummy tea and scones, this lovely horse was being led up the road. She is 28 years old!!!

50c for two carrots to feed to the horses... bargain ;-)
